Campout #701 was on the USS Alabama in Mobile, AL. |
|---|
December 5-6, 2009 in Mobile, AL |
We will spend the night on the USS Alabama. You will have most of the ship to roam through at your leisure Saturday night. Sunday morning, you'll have time to visit the USS Drum and other parts of the museum including the aircraft collection and other military vehicles. You'll should bring a pillow, sheets and blankets (or sleeping bag), a change of clothes and toiletry items. Mattresses are provided. You must wear Class A to travel. You may change to Class B overnight to roam around the ship, but Sunday you must be in Class A again. The cost for this trip is $52. This includes overnight fee for the USS Alabama, museum entrance, and supper Saturday night (pizza). You'll need money for lunch Saturday, breakfast Sunday and lunch Sunday as well as any souvenir you might want from the museum. We'll leave Saturday at 7:00 a.m. (that means leave, not "show up") and return Sunday around 8:00 p.m. Although we won't be leaving from the Scout Hut (we'll announce where later), we will be returning to the Scout Hut. You must be able to carry your belongings onto the ship by yourself. Pack lightly please. Try to get it into your bookbag or knapsack. We'll be climbing up and down ladders to get to our sleeping quarters. I'll need to know who is going on this trip by Monday, November 16. Money is due Monday, November 30. No, you may not pay me the day we leave. I'll have more specific information for the trip at our Monday, November 16 meeting.
At the 500th campout
in 1993, an endowment fund named after Paul Eason was started. This
fund is to be used for “scholarships” to send worthy
scouts on trips who cannot afford to pay for the trips themselves.
This fund will also be used for special projects as designated by a
special committee of Troop 12. This is done to honor Paul Eason who
has given his life to Troop 12.
Our goal is to raise
$10,000 to add to the Eason fund. If 100 individuals will give $100
each, we can make this goal.
| Camping or not, a gift to the Eason Fund is always appreciated. |

If you prefer to pay "off-line", please make checks
payable to Boy Scout Troop 12.
